What a fantastic final week we have had to round off our first Year 1 term! The children have worked so hard - we are so proud of them.

We began the week with a lovely autumnal walk to church to celebrate St Luke’s Day. The children enjoyed chatting with their Year 5 buddies along the way, noticing the vibrant colours of the changing leaves and all the signs of the season around us.

Back in class, we continued our autumn theme with a science lesson all about seasonal changes. We discussed how the weather and temperature changes at this time of year. We also compared what we might see in autumn with spring, summer and winter - the children were full of amazing knowledge already!

In maths, the children have been deepening their understanding of number bonds, exploring fact families, and practising adding one more and one fewer. It’s been wonderful to see their growing confidence and enthusiasm for numbers.

We really have experienced all four seasons this week — from sunshine to showers! The children have loved spending time outdoors, exploring the fallen leaves, and playing with friends.

In English, we explored vocabulary to describe feeling worried. The children impressed us with their thoughtful suggestions, using words such as anxious, concerned and uneasy.

To end our week on a high, we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon with our buddies on Friday. They proudly shared their amazing Maya maps, which they have been busy creating, and then treated us to a lovely story time together. Have a wonderful half-term holiday, everybody!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
