This week’s chilly weather has been perfect for exploring the life and features of penguins! The children have loved learning about how these amazing birds survive in such cold places.
We’ve been developing our descriptive writing by choosing our own animal to create a fact file about. The children have picked such unique and interesting creatures, and it’s been wonderful to see them using exciting vocabulary to describe what their animals look like and how they move. We’ve even learnt lots of new animal facts from them too!
In Maths, we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. The children have been sorting shapes into groups and continuing repeating patterns.
With our trip to Knowsley Safari Park just around the corner, we’ve been learning about what different types of animals need to eat to survive. The children can now confidently use words like carnivore, herbivore and omnivore - and explain what they mean!
In Geography, we’ve been looking at the hot and cold places on planet Earth. We learnt what the equator is and located it on our globe, and we now know why the North and South Poles are so cold.
We are really looking forward to our trip to Knowsley Safari next Thursday! Please ensure your child comes to school wearing full badged school uniform (not PE kit), along with comfortable footwear and a warm, waterproof jacket. If your child is bringing a packed lunch from home, please send it in a named plastic bag for easy disposal, with carton drinks only, please.
Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!
