This week in Year 1 we have had another busy week.

In English, we began planning our own narrative journey! The children shared lots of ideas about how they would travel, where they would go and what amazing things they would see. It was wonderful to see our young authors capturing their imagination on paper.

In Maths, we have been learning about volume and capacity, discussing what these words mean and how we can compare them. We also explored mass further by investigating how many cubes different objects weigh.

In Geography, to celebrate St Patrick's Day we discovered the human and physical features of Northern Ireland whilst revisiting the four countries of the UK and their capital cities.

In PSHE, we focused on health and wellbeing by thinking about the different people in our community who help to keep us healthy. The children shared thoughtful ideas including doctors, nurses, paramedics and even our families. They then created informative posters to show their understanding.

Finally, we had a fantastic time celebrating Red Nose Day on Friday. Everyone looked amazing, and we talked lots about what Comic Relief is and how it helps people.

Well done Year 1!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
