Another super busy and exciting week in Year 1!
In English, we have been developing our descriptive writing skills by thinking of different words (synonyms) to describe situations and feelings. The children then used their ideas to write full sentences in their books, remembering to include capital letters and full stops. We also revisited our red words, which many found a little tricky - please keep practising these at home when you can.
In Maths, we’ve been recapping everything we’ve learned so far this term - number bonds, part - whole models, and using the language of more than, fewer than, and equal to. The children have worked hard to consolidate their understanding.
In RE, we looked at the big question - Why is Jesus important to Christians? We discussed that Christians believe Jesus is real, not a storybook hero, and that millions of people have found him inspiring for over 2,000 years.
Our PSHE focus has been on Friendships this week understanding that all friendships can have challenges, but we can work through them together. We shared ideas about what makes a good friend and how we can show kindness and respect to others.
It’s been lovely speaking with many of you during parent/teacher meetings this week. We look forward to meeting with the rest of our families next week.
Finally, we are looking forward to our autumnal walk to church on Monday to celebrate St Luke’s Day - a lovely opportunity to enjoy the season and reflect together as a class. Have a wonderful weekend, everybody.
