We can’t quite believe we are already at the start of the Summer term! What a fantastic first week it has been. The children have come back full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to dive straight into our new learning.

This term, we are beginning an exciting topic: Into the Forest. We will be exploring traditional fairy tales alongside learning all about nature, while also celebrating our beautiful local area of Formby. The children are already fully immersed and very excited about what’s to come.

In English, we have started a brand-new writing project, creating instruction texts on how to successfully catch the Big Bad Wolf! The ideas have been brilliant and very imaginative, like building clever traps to luring him in with Grandma’s smelliest socks! It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged and creative with their thinking.

In Science this week, we have been learning about plants and what they need to survive and thrive. The children enjoyed discussing how important sunlight, water, air, and nutrients are for healthy growth.

In PE, we have begun our athletics programme, focusing on key techniques to help prepare us for Sports Day (date to follow). The children have shown great determination and are already developing their skills.

In Art, we started an exciting collage project inspired by forest landscapes. We explored the different shapes, lines, and details we might see in a forest. The children experimented with making marks in paint using a variety of tools, including their fingers! These will form part of a larger collage once we have built up a range of colours and textures.

In Maths, we have been exploring equal and unequal groups, building a strong foundation for multiplication and division concepts.

A polite reminder to please ensure all jumpers and cardigans are clearly named. As the weather warms up and layers come off during the day, unnamed items can be difficult to return to their rightful owner.

We are looking forward to a wonderful Summer term filled with learning, creativity, and fun!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
