Year 1 Blog 13.06.25

A very busy and productive week in Year 1!

In maths lessons, Year 1 have been learning about measuring and reading mass. The children enjoyed choosing an object around our classroom, e.g a rubber or ruler and estimating how many cubes it will take to balance the object. Then, they found out the actual answer by measuring this. Please take a look at some of the photos from this activity!

In Geography this week, we took time to consider the human and physical features of the landscape, once again, with a focus on the seaside.

Next week is Art week across our school! For this, the children will begin to create their beautiful birds…watch this space! Furthermore, as part of this special focused week, the children will create their own self portrait. We very much look forward to seeing these!

In outdoor PE lessons, we will begin to practice for Sports Day! Very exciting for our children.

You will have seen that a school Spider message has been sent out about the holiday questionnaire. We will share the answers, in class, after 25th June. Please ensure it is returned by then and remains loose rather than stuck in.

Have a lovely weekend.

See you all next week for our Arts week!

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
