Year 1 Blog 09.05.25

Another busy and exciting week in Year 1!

This week, we observed the growth of our beans and completed our diary entries. We were delighted to see some shoots appearing and look forward to seeing their progress after the weekend.

We have continued our work on Little Red Riding Hood in English. The children enjoyed an experience day on Monday as they walked around school, pretending they were in the forest, collecting some excellent vocabulary relating to our senses. After collecting vocab, we then wrote some sentences using adjectives to describe Little Red Riding Hood's time there.

In maths, we have continued our learning on addition and subtraction world problems. Take a look at some of the photos from our learning this week!

On Thursday, as a whole school, we marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day. For this the children enjoyed a special assembly. As well as this, we hosted our very own museum, in our library, with countless exhibits. Take a look at the photograms of the children exploring them.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
