Welcome back to the Spring Term!

We hope you all had a wonderful break and a happy New Year. It has been lovely welcoming the children back into school this week and hearing all about their adventures and special moments from the holidays. The children have really soldiered on with their change in routine and we couldn’t be prouder of them. They have shown fantastic resilience and enthusiasm.

This week, we kicked off our exciting new topic ‘Terrific Toys’ by holding our very own Toy Museum on Monday. Thank you so much for sending in such wonderful treasures – the children were absolutely fascinated! It was a joy to hear their thoughtful questions and see their awe and wonder as they explored traditional toys that many of them had never seen before.

In History, we explored the question “How have toys changed over time?” and compared a modern remote-control car with a traditional push car. The children enjoyed discussing similarities and differences and thinking about how toys have developed.

In English, the children explored a rocking horse and began word banking exciting describing words. They focused on what the rocking horse looks like and the materials it is made from, using some brilliant vocabulary.

In Maths, we have been learning about numbers 11–20, exploring how they are made using tens and ones. We also placed numbers on a number line and investigated which numbers are greater than or less than a given number.

Your child should have come home today with a new Spring Term Home Learning Grid. This will also be uploaded to our class page under the Home Learning tab at the top of our year group page.

Next week, we are looking forward to exploring more toys and continuing to develop our descriptive language and writing skills.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
