Year 1 Blog 06.06.25

Date: 6th Jun 2025 @ 2:37pm

A short but eventful week for us all! We certainly had some fun catching up with our friends and enjoying our PE session on Thursday. We also continued our watercolours and have now completed our final piece.

We began our new topic, “Beside the Seaside.” Next week, we will share the story of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. We look forward to our work around it.

As previously mentioned, we will commence The Phonics Screening Check (PSC). Further phonic clips ,to view, will be available, via Spider. As usual, the children have brought home a selection of books to read. We do value your comments in the reading records.

Home Learning – a copy of the Summer 2 grid and the new red words for this half term have been placed in your child’s Home Learning book or bookbag.

As always, thanks for your continued support.

Have a lovely weekend. We will see you all on Monday for a very busy week!

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
