Welcome back to all our Year 1 children and families

It’s been a joy to hear all about the children's amazing summer adventures. Now, we’re excited to begin our Year 1 journey together and can’t wait to create even more incredible memories this year.

We are so proud of how confidently the children have returned to school. From walking through the classroom doors with big smiles to showing excellent manners and embracing new challenges, they’ve truly impressed us with their enthusiasm.

This week, our focus has been on settling in and helping the children feel comfortable in their new classrooms. We’ve spent time getting to know each other a little better and talking about all the things we’re looking forward to in the year ahead.

In phonics, we’ve taken a gentle start by revisiting what we learned in Reception and getting to know our new phonics groups. In maths, we’ve been counting in 2s and practising number formation by writing numbers from 0–20 on a number line.

We’ve also explored the topic of families - celebrating how every family is unique, and that all families are special and full of love.

We’re looking forward to seeing those who can join us for the Year 1 Welcome Meeting on Wednesday, 10th September at 5:30pm.

Wishing you all a lovely and restful weekend.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
