This week, it has been refreshing to enjoy some cooler temperatures, which have been perfect for our young learners. We have made the most of the fresh air by spending plenty of time in our outdoor learning areas whenever possible.
A real highlight of the week was our Sports Day on Wednesday. We were incredibly proud of all our runners! Every child tried their very best, and it was wonderful to see such fantastic teamwork. The children not only supported their own groups but also cheered on their classmates in other teams, which was truly lovely to see.
In Maths, we have had a strong focus on time. The children have been learning how long seconds, minutes, and hours feel in real life. They particularly enjoyed timing each other while completing obstacle courses and seeing how quickly they could tidy up the classroom after busy learning sessions!
In English, we have begun using everything we have practised this term to plan our own postcards. The children have been choosing who to write to, where they have “travelled” to, what news they would like to share, and even deciding what day they will be returning home.
In Art, our 3D birds are really taking shape. They are now standing up independently and have been beautifully decorated with detailed feather sketches. We are very impressed with the creativity and effort shown.
We have also been having lots of thoughtful carpet-time discussions about the move up to Year 2 in September. We are very proud of how the children have been expressing their feelings. There is lots of excitement, but also some understandable worries. It would be lovely if you could chat with your child at home about this transition and let their class teacher know if they may need a little extra reassurance.
Looking ahead to next week, we have lots to be excited about! On Monday morning, we will be audience members for St Luke’s Got Talent, and we can’t wait to watch the amazing performances from children across the school. On Thursday, we are looking forward to dressing up for “When I Grow Up” day, and on Friday, we are very excited for our trip to Formby Beach, where we will be building sandcastles and enjoying time together with our friends. Thank you to everyone who kindly volunteered to support our beach trip. We now have enough helpers, but we will be in touch if anything changes.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a wonderful weekend!
