We have had  busy and enjoyable time this week in year 5. In English, we have started our build up to writing, writing the narrative for the film "The Snowman" by raymond Briggs. In maths we have been reading, drawing and interpreting line graphs with 2 or 3 sets of data on the graph. In DT we have designed soft toys, created a template and cut out fabric ready to blanket stitch next week in order to create our toy. In science we have planned and conducted an experiment to show the bigger the surface area, the more water resistance. We made different shapes out of the same piece of playdough and dropped it in to a transparent conainer full of water, timing the speed in took to reach the bottom. We repeated each drop to ensure anomalies did not affect the findings.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
