What a quick first week back it has been!

The children are rather excited for next week's residential trip to York and had lots of questions to ask during our York Talks.

The question is, are they ready for Mr Williams' personalised book of Dad jokes!

On Wednesday we had a Zoom meeting with parents to discuss the trip in more detail and to answer any questions. Apart from a few technical issues, it was a success and helped parents to visualise what the trip will look like.

We still have lots of work to do before we journey off on Wednesday and in Maths the children have further explored the area and perimeter of 2D shapes. In English, we have begun our new topic - plastic pollution. The children have been researching facts about this awful problem that faces the world and were shocked by some of the facts they discovered. They will be building up their ideas over the coming weeks before writing their own piece of persuasive writing to educate people about the dangers of plastic pollution and what they must do to help ease this situation. In games, we began our new athletics topic and worked on our middle distance runnning technique and learnt how to pace ourselves so that we didn't tire too quickly or finish with too much energy left in our muscles. In science, we investigated how chemical changes can be reversed. We made a sugar solution before working out how we could reverse this and separate the salt from the water. We learnt about filtration, evaporating and condensing and successfully separated the salt from the salt solution.

Next week if residential time, so we need lots of sleep over the weekend to ensure that we are filled with energy for all the fun activities that are planned for us.

Happy weekend all.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
