What a busy week we have had this week. In English, we have continued and finished our writing taking inspiration from the book and film The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. Next week we will complete our independent write, writing from the perspective of the snowman, changing the character James to the name of our Year 1 buddy. We can't wait to share our finished stories with our buddies. In DT we have made stuffed toys, learning how to blanket stitch to join our fabric and consolidating skills from Y3 to aplique extra fabric with a running stitch. Some of us even learnt to sew a button to make eyes. Our finished products are amazing. In PSHE we learnt how best to deal with failure and that big failures often to lead to huge successes. we took inspiration from JK Rowling, Albert Einstein and Bill Gates. We finished our RE unit this week, comparing and contrasting the Luke and James' versions of the nativity in the bible and why they were different. For our final science lesson of the term investigating how changing the surface area of an object (playdough) affects the force of water resistance.

Some highlights of the week were seeing so many Year 5 children perform at the Christmas by Candlelight concert at church and watching the Year 2 nativity. Both were fantastic and showed how talented our children are. It was also the whole school Santa dash. We went outside as a year group and even got to experience snow thanks to the snow machine.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
