We have been having a wonderful time back in year 2! Albeit a little sad it's our last term together, but excited for all the amazing things we are up to this term.

The children have fully immerced themselves into our new topic 'A walk on the wildside'. As you can imagine this is a firm favourite and the children have loved getting to learn about different habitats, animals and the return of the living eggs! After a minor setback, we are looking forward to the eggs arriving on Monday. The children are enjoying opportunities in the small world to create different habitats. They have been sketching different animal prints in the creative and creating animal riddles in the writing area.

Our English this term we are writing chick diaries, which we have began in anticipation for their arrival, we will then be writing a new entry each day as we carefully observe the eggs. Maths this week we have moved on to learn about mass and the children have been practical with the scales, comparing toy animals to different weights and then weighing the animals in grams. We will be moving onto kilograms next week.

We're getting busy with our sports day practice and we are looking forward to the big day! We had our first class trip on Thursday and whilst the weather was really against us the children were absolute troopers! We went on a mini beast hunt where we found worms, beetles, centipedes, millipedes and spiders. We then went pond dipping and found a range of different creature, we did think we might have found an axolotl, but turns out it was a newt! We ended the day feeding the ducks and enjoying the play area together. As cold and wet as it was, it was so lovely to all be together experiencing a day outside of school.

We hope the weather picks up for the weekend!

Have a lovely one,

The Year 2 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
