                                                                                          Friday 2nd May

This week, we planted our individual beans. We look forward to nurturing them as well as making scientific observations and recordings about them in our bean diaries.

During our Into the Forest topic, our focus is on traditional tales and we continue to read Little Red Riding Hood amongst other tradition tales. We have spent time, in role as different characters, and considered what they might say to one another.

Addition and subtraction word problems were our focus, during maths. The children used drawings, part, part, whole diagrams and number equations to represent their own stories.

The children have really enjoyed hearing about each other’s favourite books. Our scrapbooks are certainly filling up.

Next Thursday, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. As mentioned, the children are asked to wear red, white and blue on that day.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
