Friday 8th October

The children enjoyed learning about food and ‘Harvest’ in our school service led by Year 3 on Monday. Lots of information and ‘food for thought’!

This week, we continued learning more about the United Kingdom, then went on to ‘mapping skills’ work, starting with a familiar place to map make – our classroom!

We enjoyed more art work – this week’s focus was to start work on ‘Self-Portraits.’ We will be drawing our self-portraits, with and without mirrors, to compare and look at some famous portraits too!

We continued to enjoy our gymnastics work on ‘balance’ and outdoor games with Mr. Smith and the theme of ‘rolling’.

World Poetry Day -thank you for the books that came into school on Thursday to share with classmates. We had lots of fun with our favourite rhymes, learning some new ones too and re-visiting ‘old favourites.’

We look forward to ‘Marvellous Me’ topic work, finding out more about our wonderful bodies and our ‘Senses’ in science next week!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.

The Year One Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
