Welcome Back Everyone!

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back after a lovely break. They were so excited to share all of their news with us — it’s been a joy to hear about everything they’ve been up to!

On Monday, we met Independent Isla! The children have been showing off their independence and using Isla’s key phrases:

“I will have a go.”
“I will try new things.”
“I can do it myself.”
“I can ask for help if I need it.”

We’ve loved seeing your pictures and hearing how our new friend is encouraging your children to show just how independent they really are.

Tuesday was a very exciting day! The children were absolutely ecstatic when Merseyside Fire and Rescue arrived at school. They had lots of hands-on fun with the team, learning about the important work firefighters do to help people.

The crew showed us the fire engine and all the equipment they use — and everyone even got to have a go with the hose! The children enjoyed trying on the very heavy helmets and sitting in the fire engine before the crew were called out to an emergency.

The firefighters left the children with one very important question to take home:

“Does your smoke alarm work at home?”

On Wednesday, we learnt all about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. The children amazed us with their knowledge of how to stay safe and were so excited to share their plans for this dazzling night!

On Thursday, we continued our learning of 1, 2, and 3. The children have been working hard to identify these numbers and spot things that are not 1, 2, or 3. They have practised number formation and learnt how to subitise — using their “counting eyes”!

“Don’t count, say the amount.”

You can practise this at home by placing 1, 2, or 3 chocolate buttons in an irregular pattern on a plate, covering them with a tea towel, and then revealing them for a quick look!

To finish off the week, we rounded up our ‘special friends’ in Read Write Inc. (RWI). The children learnt about nk and ck, as well as the double consonants ff, ll, and ss.

Have a go at some ‘Word Time Fun’ at home this weekend:

We love to share your good news, please email us at [email protected] with news no matter how big or small, we love to see it!

Please don’t forget to send in a photo of your child reading one of their favourite books in one of their favourite places for our displays. We are still collecting them.

We can’t wait to learn more about the People Who Help us next week as well as how we can care for others. We will wear Odd socks on Monday, we will wear our Poppies with pride next week too as well as showcasing our yellow/ spots for Children in Need next Friday.

Have a great weekend, everyone — we can’t wait to see you all again on Monday!

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
