Another Busy Week in Reception!
What another busy and exciting week we have had here in Reception! The children continue to settle beautifully into school life and we have loved seeing their confidence grow as they explore, talk, play and learn together.
This week, we have continued our theme of ‘Homes and Our Community’. The children have had lots of opportunities to look at maps and explore the roads and places within our local community. They have particularly enjoyed trying to find their own houses, as well as other familiar places and places of interest.
During our carpet time activities, the children were fantastic at spotting places that they recognised. We talked about places such as the pool, the park, the library and the station, discussing what we might do when we visit each of these places and how they are important within our community. It has been wonderful to hear the children sharing their own experiences and making connections with the world around them.
Our Mini Mes 👧🏼
The children have also been introduced to their very own ‘Mini Me’! They have absolutely loved using their little figures within our provision.
The children have been positioning their Mini Mes around the dolls' house, placing them inside vehicles and using them to recreate familiar experiences from their own lives. It has been lovely to watch their imaginations develop as they use their Mini Mes to act out stories, experiences and everyday events.
Read Write Inc. Phonics
We have been very busy learning our next five Read Write Inc. Speed Sounds:

The children have been working incredibly hard and are becoming more confident when recognising and recalling their sounds. Please continue to practise these sounds at home and, wherever possible, have fun playing Fred Games with your child. These little opportunities throughout the day are a fantastic way to develop their confidence with oral blending.

Stay and Play
We also loved preparing our chocolate crispy cakes ready for you all to enjoy at our Stay and Play! We really hope you had a lovely time exploring our classrooms, seeing the children's learning and sharing some special time together. It was wonderful to welcome you into our Reception environment.
Next Week...
We can't wait to begin exploring the wonderful story of The Little Red Hen next week!
The children will be finding out how bread makes its way from the farm, all the way to the shelves in the shop and eventually onto our snack table! We are looking forward to lots of exciting learning, exploring where our food comes from and, of course, getting stuck into the story of The Little Red Hen.
