What a beautiful sunny week we have had!

On Monday, we were excited to welcome two new experts into our classes. Katelyn in Pinewoods joined us as our gymnastics expert, while Libby in Sand Dunes became our very own garden fairy expert. Both children had a fantastic week sharing their knowledge and skills, and we loved learning from them!

On Tuesday, we continued exploring our theme of special places. The children enjoyed sharing photographs from home and talking about places that are meaningful to them. We also spent time preparing for our visit to church, building excitement for the next day.

Wednesday brought a lovely sunshine walk to church, where we met Rev. Matt. He spent the afternoon teaching us all about the history of St. Luke’s Church. The children were fascinated as we observed key features such as the bell, the font, the altar, and the beautiful stained-glass windows. We also ventured outside to see the oldest stone in Formby—such an interesting discovery!

On Thursday, we continued learning about lifecycles as part of our summer term theme, Growing. The children have been especially engaged with the pond life in our outdoor tank. Our tadpoles are getting bigger, and the children are becoming real experts on lifecycles! We’ve had some great discussions about the different stages and how baby frogs look so different from their mummy and daddy frogs.

St. George’s Day, we loved celebrating St. George’s day on Thursday – the children were captivated by the story of George and the dragon. They spent lots of time creating flags and dragon puppets in provision.

On Friday, we wrapped up our learning for the week by focusing on the number 12. The children have been exploring different ways to make 12 and representing it using arrays. We are so impressed with how confidently they are working with numbers beyond 10!

Challenge for the weekend:
What can you find about the number 12 at home? We can’t wait to hear what you discover!Top of Form

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
