What a wonderful week we have had in school!

The children are really starting to settle into routines, and it has been such a joy to watch them grow in confidence each day. Our classrooms have been filled with happy voices as the children are making new friends and learning each other’s names. It’s lovely to see the kindness and excitement as they include one another in play and activities.

Choosing meals has been an adventure in itself! The children are beginning to try new foods with enthusiasm and are quickly becoming more independent in making their own choices.

Despite the downpours of rain, we’ve managed to make the most of our outdoor time. The children have loved exploring the autumn treasures in our outdoor kitchen, and they have been enhancing their gross motor skills through climbing, balancing, building, and even moving tyres around the playground. With large movements using different materials, their strength and coordination are growing beautifully.

We’ve shared lots of wonderful stories this week, followed by circle time discussions about how we are all different but equally special. The children are learning that while we are unique, we all belong in our school community.

We are incredibly proud of how quickly the children are picking up the ‘name the pictures’ element of Read Write Inc. phonics. Their enthusiasm for starting their reading journey is shining through! Please check School Spider to revisit the 'name the pictures' video. Each child is now a proud owner of their very own reading folder and has chosen their first book to share with you at home. Sharing books will be changed every Friday, and we would love to see a small comment in the reading record after you have shared a book together. Your encouragement at home makes a huge difference!

We are so proud of all the children for their amazing start to the year. They are already showing resilience, kindness, and curiosity — what a fantastic foundation for the weeks ahead!

Please remember to send in any good news, no matter how big or small to [email protected] the children love sharing it with their friends.

Have a wonderful weekend,

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
