What a wonderful week in Reception!
We can't quite believe it... this was our second-to-last week in Reception!
It has been a gorgeous week full of sunshine, smiles and lots of fantastic learning.
This week we met two new experts. Over in Pinewoods, Nina shared her love of Mermaids, while in Pinewoods, Leo taught us all about his passion for Dragons. Throughout the week, Leo has inspired the children by teaching them how dragons could be trained, sharing stories and myths about these magical creatures, and encouraging everyone to create and write about their very own mythical creature. Meanwhile, Nina has loved teaching the children about her fascination with mythical mermaids, sharing how she immersed herself in a magical mermaid world during her family holiday to Dubai.
In Maths this week, we have been consolidating our number knowledge to 20, as well as learning how to count large, irregular arrangements of objects. The children explored different strategies to help them count accurately, including moving objects, crossing through those they had already counted, and arranging them into columns and rows. Towards the end of the week, we expanded our understanding of odd and even numbers, as well as doubles within 20. Why not spend some time over the weekend sorting numbers into even and odd groups together?
We absolutely loved celebrating Careers Day on Thursday! The children arrived dressed in some fantastic outfits as they proudly showcased what they would like to be when they grow up. It was wonderful to hear them talk so confidently about their future ambitions.
We are looking forward to spending our final week together next week. Crazy hair day on Monday, we will be walking to church for the Year 6 Leavers' Service and celebrating our final Focus Children as they enjoy their very special week.
