Maths Homework Week ending Friday 3rd May 2024

This week in maths we have continued to solve word problems using addition and subtraction. To support your child we would like you to continue to use objects at home to pose problems for your child to solve. For example, if there are 6 forks on the table and 4 in the drawer. How many are there altogether? If there are 15 daisies growing in the garden and 6 are picked to make a daisy chain, how many are left growing? Support your child to draw the word problem in their Home Learning Book, then write down the equation that matches the word problem.

We would love to hear about what you have been up to, and your child could record some word problems of their own in their Home Learning book too. If you would like to send a photograph on email, we can share it in class. Use the yr1@slf.sefton.school email.

Have fun and thank you for your continued support in helping your child to become a capable and confident mathematician!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
