Another successfull week!

In English we have begun our build-up writing for a recount of The Snowman using literary devices such as Similies, Subordinate clauses and alliteration. The magic of the story is truly being captured in their sentences.

Mathematics sees us progress into the world of fractions, looking at equivalent fractions through fraction strips, as well a the formal method.

Our topic covered air resistance and the reasons why parachutes actually work. We shall'n't be testing our theories with the children just to reassure.

Design and Technology has been the predominant focus of the week with our stuffed toys taking centre stage. Blanket stitches and applique galore, we are racing towards a completed toy.

We also finally managed to squeeze a successful hockey PE in this Friday, having been thwarted by the weather the previous 2 weeks. I (Mr. Ryan) am very impressed with the skills the children from both classes, have. I can see some budding hockey players!

We hope you have a fantastic weekend!

The Year 5 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
