Year 5 Blog, 19.9.25

Date: 19th Sep 2025 @ 4:07pm

We have had another successful week in Year 5 with students adapting well to the pace of the year.

In maths, we continued with our place value, looking at numbers to 1,000,000 and multiplying by 10,100 and 1000.

Our English poems are developing quickly with us nearly at the end of the unit. Next week will see the big write up and reviewing.

PE remains focussed on dodgeball and tag rugby. Both classes had not played Tag Rugby before so their opening games were exciting for everyone.

For topic we looked at LiDAR technology and how it has shaped our understanding of Tikal.

Art has progressed our typography lessons, creating their own typography from every day items such as twigs and wire, then sketching these into their books.

We are already looking forward to next week and hope you have a lovely weekend.

The Year 5 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
