Year 5 Blog 11.7.25

Date: 11th Jul 2025 @ 5:10pm

Wow, the weather sure has been kind to us this week, maybe a little too kind!

Today, the children had another visit to their new classrooms and teachers. They enjoyed their time and are feeling much more confident to transition to Y6 in September.

This week brought our English writing unit of work based on ‘The Piano’ to a close and the children wrote beautifully crafted of 3rd person pieces which evoked such emotion. We are so proud of the work they have created.

In maths, we have moved from perimeter and area to volume. The children have loved these lessons as they have found them easy! Volume = L x B x H

In computing, we have been designing our own fairground ride using the Crumble kits. The children will be coding next week to make their sparkles flash and the motors turn.

In PE, we have continued to improve our mapping skills and the children worked in pairs and threes, competing in a star relay game. It was great to see how well they worked as part of small team and their communication skills were first class.

We are close to the end of the school year and have just 7 more days of Year 5 remaining. All the staff will be sad to say goodbye to such a wonderful group of children but know it is time to let them continue their learning journey in Y6.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

From all in Year 5.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
