Year 4blog 17.10.25

Date: 17th Oct 2025 @ 8:55am

We’re getting very close to the end of our first half term in Year 4! The children are still working their socks off! They are all definitely showing a great attitude towards their learning.

In Maths, the children have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. They have also been practising their times table recall.

In Art, the children have been adding to their concertina booklets. They have used watercolour paints to add subtle colour flecks to their monochrome sketches.

In English, they have been busily planning their tours, explaining the features of a river, ready to write it up. They are producing some super, descriptive writing.

In Science, we have investigated how temperature affects the state of solids. We used chocolate, ice, and hard butter to observe how temperature causes a change of state from a solid to a liquid. The children carefully recorded their observations onto a table.

In RE, the children have continued considering whether Jesus was inspiring because of his actions. The children discussed the miracle story when Jesus fed 5000 people.

Well done to our Weekly Superstar: 4C: Eleanor and Emilia 4M

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
