Year 4 blog 30.1.26

Date: 30th Jan 2026 @ 8:36am

Year 4 have been working their socks off again this week!

In maths, we have continued to improve our multiplication and division understanding, by working with factors. We have used our understanding of times tables to help us.

In English, the children have been developing their story plans for The Kapok tree and have decided on an ending for their own version of the story.

In Geography they are thoroughly enjoying the wonders of the Rainforest!

We are continuing to look at pattern in Art. This week we looked at the artist Sol Le Wit, whose artwork is produced by following a set of rules. The children placed random dots around their page and then used straight lines to join them.

We have been looking at Living Things and what they need, in Science. The children should be able to explain both vertebrates and invertebrates and hopefully remember how many vertebrate groups there are!!!

A ‘big’ well done to our Weekly Superstars: 4C: River and All of 4M.

Doodle maths- Recognise and use factor pairs

Doodle English- Identifying adverbials of time

Doodle spelling- bicycle, breath, breathe, build, business, calendar, caught

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
