Year 4 blog 23.1.26

Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 1:24pm

Wow, another busy week in year 4. We all enjoyed a great day at Chester Zoo on Wednesday. Luckily it didn’t rain for too long, and we managed to see lots of different animals. The baby chimpanzee even put on a cheeky little performance, much to everyone’s delight.

In maths, we have been multiplying and dividing numbers in the 7- ,11- and 12- times tables.

In English, the children have been sentence stacking the scenes of The Great Kapok Tree. They have adapted parts of the original story with ideas and descriptions of their own.

In science, the children have continued looking at living things. They have answered well and made good contributions to class discussions. They enjoyed classifying animals by their observable features.

In RE, the children have discussed their life journey so far. They have thought about changes in their own lives, and their hopes and expectations for their future. They considered the people and groups that give them strength, inspire them and keep them safe.

In Geography, the children have been discussing deforestation, and the effects it has on the Rainforests.

A ‘big’ well done to our Weekly Superstars: 4C: Emilia and Miles 4M.

Doodle home Learning assignments this week are: - Spelling, Tables and English.

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning.

The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
