Another Wonderful Week in Reception!

We have had another fantastic week in Reception! A huge thank you to our two new Experts of the Week. Elliot taught us so much about aeroplanes and shared his brilliant love of Lego, while Albert taught us all about his passion for superheroes. Albert also shared his love of helping others and enjoyed making some beautiful cakes with his friends. We loved learning from both of them!

On Monday, we introduced the children to our new maths focus for the week: exploring and comparing height and length. The children used vocabulary such as long, not long, short, not short, height and length, as well as some vocabulary linked to time. They showed great enthusiasm and curiosity during these activities.

On Tuesday, we spent the afternoon learning about the Parable of the Lost Sheep. We talked about how God cares for all of us equally and will never give up on us. The parable teaches us how important it is to care for others, regardless of how they look or act. Jesus reminds us that every one of us is precious to Him, and He loves us so much that He will always look after us—just like the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to find the one lost little sheep.

On Wednesday, we prepared the children for a very special visit… Oliver’s Mummy was coming in to talk to us about her important job as cabin crew! The children thought carefully about the questions they wanted to ask her. We also enjoyed a relaxing afternoon making rice crispy cakes together.

On Thursday, Oliver’s Mummy came to visit and taught us all about aviation and how passengers are kept safe when travelling. Her visit was nothing short of amazing, the children got to try on outfits, pilot hats and even the protective wear. Our favourite part was learning the safety demonstration with help from our friends.

We are so grateful to parents and family members who are able to come into school to share their professions and help extend the children’s knowledge and skills.

On Friday, we had a very fun Number Day! The children looked amazing dressed as numbers, and we enjoyed lots of different number activities to support the NSPCC’s Number Day.

We want to say a huge thanks to our first ‘Secret Storytellers’, you were amazing and the children were entranced by your reading. Please do get in touch if you’d love to take part. If Friday’s aren’t suitable please do let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your request.

Please don’t forget to send us your good news to [email protected] —no matter how big or small, we love seeing it and sharing it together.

We are looking forward to introducing number 10 next week and meeting two new amazing Experts of the Week.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
