Trio of Trophies

The girl’s football team made it a trio of trophies by winning their last tournament of the season. The girls from Year 5 and 6 have had an outstanding run, winning the Formby Inter- Schools Girls Tournament at the Formby 3g pitches back in June. The girls were unbeaten after playing twelve games and were rewarded with the Winners’ Cup. Fifteen schools from north Sefton took part on what was one of the hottest days of the year.

The team then took part in and won the Inaugural Southport and Formby Girls Football League, winning eight of the ten games and scoring a magnificent 69 goals. Just days later they went on to win their final trophy; the Hugh McCauley Cup.

Mrs Gilham and Mr Steiger, who train the girls, were delighted. Mrs Gilham said, ‘The girls have taken part in every game with energy and passion. They really deserve this season’s success.'  Two of the girls, Jess and Georgia, went on to win school’s Olwen Woods Trophy for Outstanding Sporting Success at the end of term presentation evening.
