Year 5 Weekly Blog (15. 3. 19)

Date: 15th Mar 2019 @ 5:57pm

What an explosive week! This week we have been creating chemical reactions and looking at how combining 2 ordinary household ingredients can cause an eruption. The bubbles created by the Carbon Dioxide, when lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda are mixed, caused the bubbles to overflow like a volcano - all over the carpet - and the cup to turn icy cold with the endothermic reaction; the yeast and sugar solution blew up a balloon and the alka seltzer and vinegar caused a canister top to blow off and hit the ceiling as the pressure was so great. inside.

In English we have almost completed our scary stories based on the poem "The Listeners" by Walter de la Mare. Be warned that at parent's Evening you will be terrified when you read them!
