Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Year 2 Weekly Blog (7. 1. 22)

Date: 6th Jan 2022 @ 10:09am

We were all very happy to see the children come back to school on Wednesday morning, ready for a new term of learning.  We hope you and all your families had a restful and happy Christmas break; thank you again from all the Year 2 staff for the generous gifts that were given prior to the Christmas break.

This week, we have started our new topic: 'Once upon a time...'; in this topic, the children will be learning all about traditional tales.  The children have already impressed us with what they know about different fairy tales, telling us all about the different characters, settings and lots more besides - we even had a few children.

In Maths, they have continued to focus their learning on lengths and measuring: using rulers and metre sticks to investigate and compare.  We have been very impressed with how they have worked through these tasks collobratively and with precision.

In art, the children have been exploring the colour wheel: using the primary colours to blend and create a variety of other colours; the children experimented using different media like watercolours and poster paints.

See you next week!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
