Reception Weekly Blog 26.11.21

Date: 26th Nov 2021 @ 2:25pm

As the weather has got colder this week we have started to talk about an animal that lives in the coldest of all climates, Antarctica. The children have been spell bound by the plight of the Emperor Penguin and the lengths it goes to, to rear its young chick.
Our role play area has transformed into the Antarctic and the children have enjoyed spending time in there. We have been busy making out very own penguins too. In our games sessions we have played the part of the emperor penguin, waddling around balancing a ball on our feet, as if it were a precious egg, huddling together to keep warm from the

In maths we have been learning all about the number 7, the children were amazed that there were 7 days in our week and 7 colours in a rainbow!

Look out for ‘red words’ in your child’s reading folder, with a letter to explain what they are. They can also be known as tricky words. We say it is trickier to ‘Fred a red’, as we cannot use our ‘Fred talk’ to decode these words. Thank you for your support in helping your child to learn to read.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
