Reception Weekly Blog 12.11.21

Another fantastic week here in Reception!

An astonishing event happened in Reception this week. When we arrived at school on Monday morning a dragon egg had appeared, along with a letter from the grown-up dragon, asking the children to take care of the precious egg! The children have been amazing, making sure the egg is safe and warm, and not disturbed too much.

We enjoyed watching a fantastic service, performed by our Year 6 friends, we sat beautifully and observed two minutes silence to commemorate Remembrance Day. The children have enjoyed creating their own poppy pictures.

We look forward to next week as we begin talking to the children about our fundraising for Children in Need and explaining that all children should be able to play, be safe, be happy, healthy and cared for. However, sadly this does not always happen but BBC children in Need works hard to help all children smile.

A BIG thank you for all your fundraising efforts already this week. We are looking forward to Pudsey toast, games and colouring next week!

It was so exciting to start learning about the number 5 this week, we even introduced the Pentagon!! The children have loved looking at all the different ways we can make 5 using Unifix blocks and exploring the Numberblocks episode ‘Stampolines’, when they were able to create their very own Numberblock creation. If you find anything out about number 5 over the weekend, let us know on a good news slip!

Don’t forget ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Monday, we cannot wait to see your wonderful combinations!!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Team?

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
