Don't forget: Wear a Hat to School day is on Thursday 28th March, our last day of term. We are requesting a voluntary £1 donation to Brain Tumour Research, a charity close to our hearts, having lost staff and parents to this cancer over the last few years. Thanks for your support!

Reception Home Learning (Week Beginning Monday 1st March 2021)

Date: 26th Feb 2021 @ 11:40am

Week commencing Monday 1st March 2021

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all safe and well. We are really looking forward to welcoming you all back safely on Monday 8th March 2021.

Attached below is the Home Learning grid for week commencing Monday 1st March 2021, along with all the resources you may need to go alongside the activities planned. This week we will focus on the story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.

Feel free to print these resources or create your own. We understand there is a lot listed here but please remember some of these are suggested activities, we don’t want you to feel pressured to complete everything listed. It may work for some and it may not work for others. You are all doing an amazing job and hopefully we will all find a way that works for us. However, we would suggest you prioritise basic skills, reading, writing and opportunities to explore number each day.

Don’t forget to have lots of opportunities to play too, this is so important! Children are always learning, problem solving and finding new ways of doing things through their play.

All being well, our daily live lessons are as follows.

We expect all children to attend these live sessions or access the recorded session daily:

9:30AM - Morning Motivator – We ask that when you enter the meeting at 9.30am, you ensure your child is on mute. The teacher’s whiteboard will be prepared with letter formation practice, missing number sequences, sums, patterns etc. We ask that your child gets busy as soon as they have entered the meeting by completing the work on the board (this is what the children do when they come into the school classroom each morning). At 9.40am the teacher will go through each task. Once complete there will be a game of beat the teacher, Read Write Inc. practice and hold a sentence.

Monday and Friday at 2:30PM - Story Time and an opportunity to share with your friends and teachers.
Story Time will be on Monday’s and Friday’s at 2:30PM, we feel it would be valuable for you to continue keeping this time free during the week to enjoy a story book together at home.

We have suggested these timings so you can still access physical activity e.g. PE with Joe Wicks at 9AM, your specific RWI session on YouTube from 10AM and any topic activities e.g. The Home Learning Grid or Purple Mash after lunch time.

Links to live sessions will be emailed to you via School Spider for the separate meetings.

Recorded sessions are available soon after the live session has taken place, on the Reception page of the school website.

Please remember that if you need to contact us please use the temporary email address reception@slf.sefton.school we will either call or email you back.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon,

Miss Hesketh and Mrs. Fegan

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
