2020 Autumn 1 week 1

Date: 4th Sep 2020 @ 5:14pm

This week, the children have all settled back into school incredibly well. We have had a focus in class on resilience and on understanding and coping with the current situation. Their maturity has been outstanding and we feel they’ve really enjoyed the comfort and routine of being back in school. Going forward, we will switch our focus to more typical academic-learning but over the next week we will continue with our specific focus on mental-health and wellbeing, and understanding the world around them, at this trying time.

We will be starting PE lessons from next week and all PE lessons (see below for dates) will be taught outside (weather permitting). On the designated days for each class, please can you send your children into school in the correct Year 6 outdoor PE kit. This is a white t-shirt, navy tracksuit bottoms, a navy sweatshirt or tracksuit top and appropriate trainers. The children will not be getting changed throughout the day so they need to arrive in school in their kit, which they’ll wear all day. Children who do not come in with the correct kit will not be able to contact home and we will not be able to accept kits into the office throughout the day, to avoid the risk of spreading Covid-19.

Their ear-rings will also need to be taken out or taped up. Thank you for your help with this. In line with this message, it might also be useful to remind you that children require a bookbag, lunch (as appropriate) and drinks bottle in school daily, and they should be bringing these back home to be emptied/cleaned. Rucksacks and other bags should not be used as we’re limited on space for the moment, due to not using cloakrooms for the time-being. Have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing the children next week for their first full week back.

Year 6 PE days for Autumn 1 term: Mondays and Wednesdays.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
